What is EMI / Loan Calculator?
An EMI (Equated Monthly Instalment) is the fixed amount you repay each month on a loan, covering both principal and interest. This calculator works out your EMI, total interest, and total repayment from the loan amount, interest rate and tenure.
How to use EMI / Loan Calculator
Enter the loan amount, the annual interest rate offered by your bank or lender, and the loan tenure in months. The monthly EMI, total payment and total interest update instantly. Optionally add an extra monthly payment to see how much interest and time a prepayment saves, and a loan start date to show real calendar months in the schedule below instead of "Month 1, Month 2".
Formula
Example
A loan of ৳5,00,000 at 10% annual interest over 36 months works out to an EMI of roughly ৳16,100 per month, with total interest of about ৳79,700 over the loan term.
Understanding your result
Early in a loan, a larger share of each EMI goes toward interest; later instalments pay down more principal. "Total interest" is simply total repayment minus the original loan amount. Adding an extra monthly payment goes straight toward principal, so it reduces both the total interest paid and the number of months left on the loan.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this include bank processing fees?
No — this is a straightforward EMI calculation based on amount, rate and tenure only. Banks in Bangladesh may charge separate processing fees, insurance or other charges not included here.
Is this accurate for Islamic (Shariah-compliant) financing?
This tool calculates standard interest-based EMI. Islamic financing structures (e.g. profit-based) may use different calculation methods — check with your bank for the exact figures.
What if my interest rate changes during the loan?
This calculator assumes a fixed rate for the full tenure. For a floating-rate loan, recalculate whenever your rate changes to see the updated EMI.
Does paying extra each month actually change my EMI?
No — your required monthly EMI stays the same. The extra amount pays down principal faster, so you finish paying off the loan earlier and pay less interest overall, shown as "Interest Saved" and "Paid Off Early".
